How it works

Pikeway sits between your agent and hundreds of third-party APIs. Your agent finds the right endpoint, checks what it needs and costs, calls it, and pays only when the call succeeds.

Three steps: discover, inspect, run

Every way of connecting (MCP, CLI, SDK, HTTP) follows the same loop. Your agent never needs to know a provider's URL or sign up for its plan.

1

Discover

Describe what you need in plain words, like “token price on solana”. Pikeway returns matching endpoints ranked by relevance, reliability and price. Free, no key needed.

2

Inspect

Before spending anything, look at one endpoint's input schema, an example input and its exact per-call price. Also free.

3

Run

Call the endpoint with structured input. Pikeway forwards the request to the provider, returns the response unchanged, and records the cost of that call.

The loop, from a terminal
pikeway discover -q "token price on solana" # free
pikeway inspect -p birdeye -e /defi/price # free: schema + price
pikeway run -p birdeye -e /defi/price -i '{"address":"So11111111111111111111111111111111111111112"}'

One key, one balance

You top up a single balance and create API keys in Console → API Keys. A key looks like pk-… and works for every API in the marketplace. Send it as Authorization: Bearer pk-….

  • Each endpoint has a fixed per-call price, shown in the marketplace and returned by discover and inspect.
  • Every response carries X-Pikeway-Cost (what this call cost, in USD) and X-Pikeway-Call-Id (look it up in your usage logs).
  • Give each agent or project its own key so you can track and revoke them separately.

Only successful calls are charged

If the provider answers with a 2xx status, the call is billed at its listed price. Anything else (bad input, provider errors, timeouts) costs nothing, and the response says so with X-Pikeway-Cost: 0.

This is what makes it safe to let an agent experiment: a wrong guess at the parameters doesn't cost you anything.

Test for free with mock responses

Swap /gw/ for /mock/ and the gateway returns the endpoint's example response instead of calling the provider. No key, no charge, rate-limited per IP. Handy while you wire up parsing.

bash
curl https://gw.pikeway.ai/mock/dexscreener/latest/dex/search?q=WBTC
